We didnt realise until we stayed here how important a garden would be. We could eat meals and have drinks with new friends in beautiful tropical oasis. Everything catered for, rooms execellent, staff so friendly and helpful, trips organised and general information about area and off the beaten track places to visit.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE GUEST HOUSE YOU STAY HAS A GARDEN

Bann Bua is the only hotel we have returned to three times in all of our travels and the elastic is tightening after only a couple of weeks away. The breakfast is excellent, particularly the home made Yoghurt and Muesli. We could wax lyrical about the yoghurt alone for days. It is the best we've eaten since Turkey and they are better at yoghurt than the Greeks, just add honey for a trip to Nirvana.

Better than the food is the hospitality. All of the girls look after you so well. they really understand hospitality. My favourite guest house run by my favourite owner and my favourite staff; Emily is cute too. Think we're exaggerating, go see for yourself.

This is the guesthouse with an owner and staff that provides best services. With a lot of Empathy they really care in a wonderful way. A place that almost feel better than home.

What a find, a beautiful guest house hidden behind the main street. Nothing too much trouble, we were looked after better than could be exptected from a top class hotel. Will certainly tell all who we meet on our travels

The best place Ive stayed since arriving in Thailand 4 mouths ago.
Peace, quiet, clean rooms, hot shower, breakfast in beautiful gardens and very good price. Owners will arrange anything for you, tours, visits, problems etc.
Stayed 10 days to recover and get my energies back instead of the two nights planned.
Not to be missed.

I first stayed at Ban Bua 5 years ago, and have been back regularly ever since. Having traveled all throughout Thailand, this is the nicest place I have ever stayed at. In fact, I once spent 4 months there without leaving! I now live and work in Bangkok and try to get back up there whenever I can to enjoy the scenery and culture, if you like a sense of adventure and have the time to scratch below the surface you will find that Chiang Rai is a magical place. The rooms are comfortable and very reasonably priced, but the best thing about Ban Bua is the hospitality, the breakfasts, the tropical garden, and chatting among travelers in the garden over a cold beer. Other must see places in Chiang Rai are, Pattaya Noi (bamboo restaurant on the river), Khun Khon Watefall, the White Temple and Doi Mai Salong (mountain and valley). In town, The Reggae Bar (near the night market), CAT Bar (Jam with Sam), and the Night Bazzaar...I could go on all day....

The family owners of Ban Bua; Tim, Brian and Emily are among the nicest people I have ever met and you will never find nicer hosts. I hope to return very soon, and although sadly I know Brian will not be around anymore to entertain us over a Leo beer in the garden, I know that he will always be there spirit. He will be so sadly missed by the many people who were touched by his kindness and sense of humor.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - good value for money, quiet, spotlessly clean, well located and very friendly and helpful owners. The fruit, muesli and yoghurt breakfast is the best we have had in our 6 months of travelling!

Whilst here we did the cooking course with Suwanee which was a fabulous day - the market visit was fascinating - you learn so much more when you are with a local, and Suwanee was a gracious host and teacher ensuring that we tried all sorts of Thai fruits and snacks as well as learning to make delicious and simple meals - highly recommended.
